Family Tree Maker has published a new version of their software and this 4 part series is for anyone considering using FTM, new to FTM, or looking for a refresher and information on the updates in the most recent software release. The class will focus on the PC version, with additional limited help on the Mac version.
Part 1: Overview and the First Steps: Why use Family Tree Maker 2024 software? What can be produced with it? How do I buy the software? How do I properly do the necessary setup before entering any data into the program? Even if you are currently using FTM, you will learn how the program is organized and the proper setup to get the most from the software. These classes assume you have basic computer skills. The software is available for MAC and PC users.
Part 2: Getting Started - People and Media Tabs: Now it is time to add people; set relationships; add and categorize media; set profile pictures; link media to several people at once; back up your files and more. This class gets you started on the process of documenting your family history with this software. Please note: You must have purchased FTM 2024, installed it on your computer and done the required preliminary setup covered in part 1.
Part 3: Introducing the Web Search: Learn to search websites through FTM, add favorite search sites; add information directly to your tree. Additional information on Media and maps will be included. This is the next step toward creating a finished product.
Part 4: Creating a Final Product - Find and fix errors and get started with the Publish Tab: The last step in the process of creating a final project. Participants will learn how to find and fix duplicate information and errors; learn what reports can be created from the software; how to share your work; and how to create a book.
