How is Beaufort County faring in the COVID-19 Delta variant surge? Here are the latest statistics as of September 1, 2021:

•There are 44 COVID-positive patients hospitalized in Coastal Carolina and Hilton Head hospitals; 10 are in the ICU. 

•80% of hospitalized COVID patients are not vaccinated. 

•63% of eligible residents in Beaufort County are fully vaccinated. In South  Carolina, 47% are vaccinated. 

•Of new COVID cases, 95% have the Delta variant.

Of the federal dollars that the Town of Hilton Head Island received for COVID-19, here is the breakdown of where the money will be allocated:

•$1 million to the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry for COVID-19 scholarships and relief 

•$1 million to a park and housing project on Marshland Road

•$900,000 to technology and security updates for town hall

•$400,000 to grants for repairs for homeowners
