Members Making News
Our members are making headlines across the Lowcountry! Here are some of their accomplishments:
- Second Helpings earned a coveted Four-Star Rating from Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest charity evaluator, and received a $10,000 grant from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation.
- The South Carolina Hospital Association awarded Novant Health Certified Zero Harm Awards in 2024: seven to Coastal Carolina Hospital and five to Hilton Head Hospital.
- The Technical College of the Lowcountry received a $150,000 grant from the City of Hardeeville to support the construction of the Arthur E. Brown Regional Workforce Training Center. The new facility will feature 50,000 square feet of space and accommodate 850 students.
- Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, a nonprofit provider of end-of-life, palliative, and grief care services, rebranded as MiraSol Health to reflect its expanded range of services, including support for patients facing serious illnesses or terminal diagnoses, as well as caregivers.
The Town of Hilton Head Island celebrated South Carolina Arbor Day with the planting of a beautiful live oak tree. Hilton Head Island has proudly been a Tree City USA® community since 2000.rce Training Center. The new facility will feature 50,000 square feet of space and accommodate 850 students.
- With a $500,000 grant from the Town of Hilton Head Island, Habitat for Humanity of the Lowcountry purchased 1.53 acres of land off Spanish Wells Road. The organization plans to build five single-family homes on the property.
- The Foundation for Educational Excellence awarded 16 grants totaling over $16,000 to teachers and schools across the Beaufort County School District for innovative learning opportunities. Funded projects include:

- Get Your Library Search On at Hilton Head Island Elementary School
- Bright Bobcat Plates at Bluffton High School
- “Take Out” Anyone? at Hilton Head Island High School
- Photography Perspectives at May River High School
- Bluffton High School Expanded Learning Environment at Bluffton High School
- Buenos Comunicadores/Bons Communicateurs at Hilton Head Island Middle School
- The Leadership Alumni Association collected and donated over 600 athletic balls for Bluffton Self Help’s holiday toy drive.
- Congratulations to Sea Turtle Patrol Hilton Head Island for being named a 2024 Angel Charity by South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond. This honor recognizes their contributions to the well-being of South Carolinians
