- The Hilton Head Island Land Trust announced that a pair of Great Horned Owls Bayley and Joshua welcomed two owlets, HH5 and HH6, the fifth and sixth hatchlings in the history of the Raptor Cam.
- The Hampton Hall Charitable Fund awarded Hugaroo Inc. $2,000 grant, which will allow for the non-profit’s continued expansion in the Lowcountry.
- The Town of Hilton Head Island was named a Gold-level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists for the third time. The town was first named a Bicycle Friendly Community in 2011 and joins 480 communities across the country.
- Christ Lutheran Church & Preschool of Hilton Head Island has launched a new food pantry with the support of Second Helpings and other food pantries on the Island.
- The Government Finance Officers Association awarded the Town of Bluffton’s Finance Department the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2024 Budget. This is the 12th year in a row that Bluffton’s Finance Department has earned this award, its highest form of recognition for a municipal budget.
- Hargray awarded a $7,500 grant to Sandalwood Community Food Pantry through the company’s Charitable Giving Fund. The organization was one of 29 nonprofits across the company’s 24-state footprint.
- Beaufort Memorial received $1 million in funds from the State of South Carolina for its Nursing Workforce Development and People Achieving Their Highest (PATH) programs.
- Beaufort County Solid Waste and Recycling Division was recently awarded a grant for $273,600 from the USDA Composting and Food Waste Reduction Program. The grant will help the County create a pilot program that encompasses a multi-phase approach to composting that is estimated to begin in Spring 2025.
