Jill Horner joined Memory Matters as its new Executive Director. She was previously at the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York.
The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Bill Miles presented Marriott Vacations Worldwide CEO Steve Weisz with a token of appreciation for his 50-year career and for giving back to charitable organizations in our community. Marriott is one of the county’s biggest employers.
Bishop Eye Center welcomed optometrist Dr. Paul Russo to its practice. He was previously at the Bassett Healthcare’s Department of Ophthalmology in Cooperstown, N.Y. for 23 years.
Jennifer Simpson was promoted to the Membership Director at the County Club of Hilton Head. She joined the company in November 2021, and was previously a Catering Events Manager at Belfair and Westin Hilton Head Island.
Information Specialist Kathy Winings celebrated her 20th anniversary.
Events Manager Kelli Brunson was accepted into the Business Leads Fellowship Program through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. She also recently completed her master’s degree in learning, leadership, and organization development from the University of Georgia.
The communications team won a Best in Show Communications Excellence Award from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives for the Faces of Small Business video series.
The Senior and Junior Leadership Classes of 2023 kicked off their programs in August. There are 15 professionals in the Leadership Class, and 40 high school students in the Junior Leadership Class.

The Town of Hilton Head Island welcomed new staff:
- Bob Bromage, Director of Public Safety. He was previously the public information officer and lead cold case investigator at the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

- William McAdoo “Mac” Deford, Jr., has been named General Counsel. He recently served as Associate General Counsel for the Town of Mount Pleasant.
